Baseball Game in DC

It was a late afternoon game. We were already down in the National Mall area, so we hopped on the subway, and with one transfer at L'Enfant Plaza, and a final stop at the Navy Yards, we arrived at the ballpark early enough to watch batting practice. We positioned ourselves along the front of the left field fence. As you can imagine, many fans arrive early to catch homerun balls from batting practice or ask their favourite players for stray balls. We were pretty lucky, receiving not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, not 5, but 6! Yes SIX balls. The Harkness kids must have been the cutest along the homerun fence that day, because 5 different players tossed balls to their smiling faces. The sixth ball was a homerun blast that bounced among the seats - Piper's little hand was able to snap it up among all the feet and eager hands. After receiving our sixth, people behind us could be heard saying, "hey that family has 3 balls already!" We left shortly after that.

Hi,
We enjoy looking at the pictures and comments posted on the 2 sites.
The children were lucky to get souvenir baseballs.
